其實RSVP並非是任何英文句子的縮寫，它是來自法文"répondez s'il vous plaît"的縮寫，意思就是"please respond"，也就是請回應的意思。 

當有人舉辦宴會、聚會或派對時，主辦人為了準備食物、飲料、桌椅或是交通接送時，為了方便統計參加人數而發出邀請函，邀請函中會註明RSVP，也就是希望能得回覆受邀者是否參加的資訊。RSVP卡上會出現2個選項"will attend"和"will not attend"，讓受邀者勾選回覆。 

還有，如果你不想讓你的RSVP卡總是只能出現無聊又千篇一律的"will attend"和"will not attend"， 或許你可以參考下面其他比較有趣的表達方式喔。 

隨性、親切一點的寫法： 
____Can’t wait to celebrate! 
____Will celebrate from afar. 

____Wouldn’t miss it for the world! 
____Sorry, can’t make it. 

____We’ll help make your day complete! 
____We’re unable, but hope your day is sweet. 

____Sounds great, won’t be late! 
____Just can’t make it,but congratulations! 

想要有趣一點的話可以這麼寫： 
____Accepts with pleasure. 
____Declines with regret. 

____Will be there with bells on! 
____Will be there, but I don’t do bells. 
____Won’t be there, heard about the bells 
____Won’t be there, with or without bells 

辦戶外活動時： 
____Come rain or shine, we’ll be there! 
____Very sorry but we’re out of sunscreen and umbrellas.
