在學英文時，除了要注意動詞時態，還有一點要注意，就是動詞是及物還是不及物，幫大家複習一下，及物動詞可以直接加受詞，但是不及物動詞如果要加受詞的話，一定要先加介係詞喔!　

不過很多動詞可以當及物動詞，也可以當不及物動詞，但是兩者意思卻是不一樣。所以當你學會了一個動詞單字，千萬不要以為它只有一個意思！如果在句子中看到 I run a store 和 I run to a store ，你知道這兩個 run 其實是代表不同的意思嗎？

• Run a store / Run to a store

Run a store 是經營一間商店，但是 run to a store 是跑到一間商店。

They ran the kindergarten extremely well .   他們把幼稚園管理得很好。 （run : 經營，管理 ）

He had to run to catch the bus .   他必須跑過去趕搭公車。 （run : 跑 ）

Fly an airplane 是駕駛飛機，而 Fly in an airplane 乘坐飛機

例句: 

He flew a bomber during the war .   戰時他駕駛過轟炸機。 （flew 是 fly 的過去式，駕駛 ）

I will fly to London tomorrow .   我明天搭飛機去倫敦。

• Leave Taipei / Leave for Taipei

Leave Taipei 是離開台北，Leave for Taipei 是離開某地為了去台北

例句: 

He left the room at two o ' clock .   他兩點離開房間。

We will leave for London next week .   我們下週動身去倫敦。

• Walk the dog / Walk to the dog

Walk the dog 是遛狗，而 walk to the dog 是往那隻狗的方向走去

例句:

The mother walked the child out of the room .   母親帶著孩子走出了房間。（walk 在此有陪……走的意思）

He arose and walked to the window .   他站起來走向窗戶。

• Play the president  / Play for the president

Play the president 是扮演總統，Play for the president 是為了總統演出。

例句:

I am to play Juliet .   我將演朱麗葉。

She plays at the National Theatre tonight .   今晚她在國家戲院演出。

• Answer me   / Answer to me 

Answer me  是回答我，Answer to me 向我報告，對我負責

例句: 

Who answered the telephone ?   誰接的電話？

All sales clerks answer to the store manager.  所有的店員都要向店經理報告。

• Stand the table  / stand on the table

Stand the table 是忍受桌子，stand on the table 是站在桌子上面。

例句: 

I just can ' t stand the cold .   我受不了那麼冷。

She was too weak to stand.  她太虛弱了站不起來。

• Sit the baby / Sit on the baby

Sit the baby 是替人照顧小孩 ;  Sit on the baby 則是坐在小孩身上！

例句: 

I'm sitting my sister's kids this Saturday.  這周六我要幫我姊姊看小孩。 (  保母就是babysitter 喔 )

She is sitting at a table.  她正坐在桌子旁。

如果你看到一個動詞，在句子中的意思和你所認為的不一樣，很有可能就是因為後面的介係詞，讓這個動詞有著不同的意思。這時請多查字典確認。一個動詞本身可能就著許多不同的意思，更何況是加上介係詞呢！當你查字典後，也請一定要多看例句，甚至試著自己造句，這樣才能夠真正體會不同意思的用法。
